Proficiency's Collaboration Gateway? enables the use of disparate product design systems in the engineering thru manufacturing processes to achieve Product Knowledge Integration.

Using patented technology, the Collaboration Gateway? automatically extracts explicit and implicit product knowledge from a source system, such as a 3D CAD system, and converts the model to the Universal Product Representation (UPR). This extensible format represents the complete product definition including features, parameters, history, manufacturing attributes and associative properties. Once stored in the UPR format, the product knowledge can be extracted into a diverse set of other formats including major CAD systems formats:
Dassault's CATIA® V4 and CATIA V5
PTC's Pro/ENGINEER®
UGS's Unigraphics® and I-DEAS®
Additionally, once in the UPR format the Collaboration Gateway can output a file in the following formats:

IP Protection and Control
The Collaboration Gateway includes programmatic control on what product design data is imported and exported, providing complete intellectual property (IP) protection. A process template provides multiple levels of control and granularity of design information, such as feature definition and history, to be exchanged. Source data, complete with feature history can be visualized to determine robustness of models to be exchanged without requiring access to the authoring CAD system.
Product Knowledge Exchange Automation and Reporting
The Collaboration Gateway provides fully automated exchanges and reporting, including validation and transaction records. When used as part of the design process, this reporting allows design teams to understand issues related to their data capture practice, such as what modeling techniques and features are most or least portable, robust or standard. This results in designs that capture true design intent without peculiarities of one particular system or representation.
